Presentation of the IARU Region 1 Medal to Rudolf Rieder

The photographs below were taken at a dinner held in Geneva during WRC07, to celebrate the presentation of the IARU Region 1 Medal to Rudolf Rieder.

Rudolf has recently retired from his role with the Swiss regulator, BAKOM, (Federal Office of Communications) where he was Sektionschef Funkkonzessionen.

Over a number of years Rudolf Rieder consistently supported the radio amateur position in CEPT WGRA. Following WRC-03, Rudolf quickly and skillfully led a revision of CEPT radio amateur licence T/R 6101 and HAREC T/R 6102 so that radio amateurs could take advantage of the new privileges.  Rudolf also introduced the CEPT Novice licence recommendation and the ECC report on an Entry Level licence

The citation for the Certificate accompanying the Medal said:

This certificate recognises the award of the IARU Region 1 Medal to Rudolf Rieder in appreciation of his longstanding support to the radio amateur position within CEPT WGRA and his skilful work to update the CEPT international radio amateur licence T/R 61-01 and HAREC T/R 61-02
