The Over The Horizon (OTH) Radar from Iran is daily transmitting on our 10 m-band, often long lasting on 28245 kHz. You can hear a high and a low tone, corresponding to the sweeprates of 870 and 307 sweeps/sec. The system is about 60 kHz wide, the splatters are covering +/- 250 kHz. The Austrian, Dutch, Swiss and German PTTs have been informed. For more information click here!

HB9CET, Peter Jost, has been confirmed by our working group as IARUMS Region 1 Vice Co-ordinator. Read Peter´s introduction:
First my very best wishes, best of health and prosperity in 2013
Thank you most sincerely for your trust and confidence in me as new Vice-Coordinator IARUMS R1 and successor of Uli, DJ9KR. I will proudly fulfill this task, being firmly convinced that our monitoring job remains very important and indispensable also in the future.
My specialism are digital emissions and I\'m broadly equipped with several modernest analysis tools from Wavecom. Running a remote site with a Perseus SDR and several antennas at a calm location; soon extendet by a Winradio G33DDC SDR rx. At home I use KX-3, IC-7600 and IC-8500.
Hope that I may see as many as possible of you in Friedrichshafen 2013 at the next Ham-Radio 2013. Will be there all 3 days.

Since Oct. 25th we are suffering from mysterious Chinese signals on 7000, 14000, 21000 and 21010 kHz. At first the A3E signals were sounding like grunt or moo. Now we are receiving very strong multitone signals with a carrier and both sidebands every morning. The signals are also audible on 8000, 15000 (disturbing the time signal from RWM Moscow), 18000, 19000 and 20000 kHz. The purpose is unknown, perhaps a special kind of encrypted broadcast or a new generation of OTH radar? Please inform your national PTTs for official complaints! I informed the German PTT on Nov. 12th. The Dutch, Austrian and Swiss PTTs are informed, too. Many thanks to HB9CET for excellent observations and support! As pointed out in the most recent IARU MS newsletter Russian taxi business from the Moscow area is now abusing 21404.2 kHz in FM daily and all day. You can often hear a female voice organizing the business. Please use this frequency for amateur traffic daily.
