IARU Championships 2020

ARDF WG decisions regarding the 2020 and beyond IARU ARDF Events schedule (draft, to be approved by the IARU R1 EC)

Based upon the feedback received from the IARU R1 ARDF WG members and IARU R2 and IARU R3 ARDF Specialized Bodies regarding the impact of the COVID-19 virus on the 2020 and future event programs, the following decisions were made:

  1. to cancel the IARU World ARDF Championships 2020 immediately and move it to 2021 (leaving the same host society, conditions, time and place)
  2. to cancel the IARU World Youth ARDF Championships 2020 immediately and move it to 2021 (leaving the same host society, conditions, time and place)
  3. to leave the final decision about the further plans to the later date (for example, the end of June — this deadline may be possibly moved depending on the situation).

We will watch the situation and when it gets stabilized and a bit predictable we will decide about future plans. Meanwhile, organizers of future events should investigate their possibilities. We will stay in touch and discuss the proposed options to get the best solution.

Note: We do not refuse even the option of holding an ARDF Championship in late autumn 2020 provided that:

  1. the organizer is allowed and willing to hold the event
  2. all participating teams are allowed and willing to take part in the event.
  3. there is time enough to get ready for the event (both organizers and participants). Competitors should have at least 3 months to prepare for the events. This means that competitors must have freedom of movement and activity within their home country to be able to conduct WCH relevant training and some competitive activity.
