IARU Region 1 holds its General Conference every three years. In between these dates, a smaller Interim Meeting is held, open to all societies, to progress issues from the previous General Conference and to consider other matters.

The last Interim Meeting was held in Friedrichshafen Germany Austria in June 2022.

Decisions in between General Conferences require Executive Committee approval, after which they become Region 1 policy until the next full General Conference, at which point the full Conference is asked to ratify the decisions.
