Amateur radio is a radio communications service which relies on responsible operating standards to ensure that the spectrum is kept clear of intentional or avoidable interference.
IARU supports the DX Code of Conduct for operators and also itself sponsors the principles in the booklet “Ethics and Operating Procedures for the Radio Amateur”, authored by John, ON4UN and Mark, ON4WW. Copies of this booklet in many languages are available on this website.
Fortunately, new SDR-based direction finding networks are making it easier to locate those operators who intentionally set out to interrupt amateur communications.
Causing intentional interference is irresponsible and gives spectrum regulators a poor impression of amateur radio. Please report cases to your national IARU member society.
