Promote the International Day of Persons with Disabilities — December 3rd

We invite your member society to participate and to promote the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd. This day is a global opportunity to raise awareness and promote inclusivity for individuals with disabilities.

Why is it Important?

International Day of Persons with Disabilities serves as a reminder of the importance of accessibility, equality, and inclusion for all members of society, regardless of their abilities. It’s a day to acknowledge the challenges faced by people with disabilities and celebrate their contributions to our communities.

Key Message:

The theme for this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities is “United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with disabilities”.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to transform our world. They are a call to action to end poverty and inequality, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy health, justice and prosperity.

New IARU-R1 interim coordinators

We are happy to announce that two new interim coordinators have accepted the interim roles and have been accepted by the Executive Committee.

The two web pages will be updated in the near future, see “About IARU/Committees and working groups/”.

STARS — Support to The Amateur Radio Service

Remy, PA0AGF, have accepted to take the interim role for STARS until the 2023 General Conference (GC2023). Remy is currently also president of VERON and has been for some time working with STARS and preparations for input to the GC2023.

The coordinator role for STARS will be discussed and decided at GC2023.

We want to thank Hans, ON6WQ, who has been acting STARS coordinator for some time.

IPDA — Information Programme for Disabled Radio Amateurs

Riri, OD5RI, have accepted to take the interim role for IPDA until GC2023. Riri has already held the position for a period and is familiar with the area.

The coordinator role for IPDA will be discussed and decided at GC2023.

We want to thank Thomas, HB9FXU, who was the coordinator for the area, but needed to resign before the next conference.
