YOTA online – Session #4 “YOTA Summer Camps”

Are you ready for our upcoming YOTA online session already?
Did you set your alarms to Thursday, 27.08.2020 – 1800 UTC?

In this newest episode the team will present the main topic “YOTA Summer Camps”.
We will also have a prize draw after you solved our new riddle live on the show.
So stay tuned and be excited!

WHAT IS YOTA ONLINE?
The Youth Working Group within the IARU Region 1 created a new program called “YOTA online”. In these monthly gatherings we will try to bring the YOTA feeling towards the online community and spread the word that there is youth in ham radio. A YOTA team consisting of active youngsters will present different topics, while answering questions from the community. There will also be a section where different recent YOTA event hosts will be able to present the highlights, while also giving participants the opportunity to share stories. These sessions are also interesting if you want to learn more about organizing such amateur radio events for young people. This will be followed by a Q&A session with the group presenting. At the end of the event we will also do a prize raffle including a little riddle amongst all participants.


WHERE WILL IT BE HELD?
We will be streaming live again on our Youtube, Facebook and Twitch channels. Furthermore, we try to stream via the QO-100 geostationary satellite in DATV mode again.

Region 1 Multi-Operator contests September 2020 onwards

Multi-Operator Contests bring radio amateurs together and so can represent an environment where social distancing can be difficult to achieve. We must recognize that many radio amateurs are in the older, higher-risk age groups. We had hoped that by now, the Covid-19 pandemic would be subsiding, but after improvements over the summer, the opposite now appears to be the case in a number of European countries. Despite this, we know that many Member Societies want to keep the Multi operator class in their National and International contests in 2020.

It is up to the National Member Societies to examine the situation in their own country and to decide if it is appropriate to hold the Multi-operator class in their country. IARU Region 1 will continue to adjudicate Regional multi-operator contests but at all times, contesters must respect their local, regional or national regulations on infection control.

YOTA at “QSO Today Ham Expo”

From 7th to 9th of August YOTA from IARU R1 and R2 will be taking part in the first virtual ham expo ever: “QSO Today Ham Expo”!

The event will include a whole new virtual platform with #virtual booths from 45 organizations with lots of information about their matter. There will also be an auditorium for presentations just like we are used to. The event is accessible globally with both computers and phones.
